Fred Gerrard Judd
(September 8, 1947 - April 11, 2009)
Our beloved brother and friend, Freddy, 61, peacefully went home to God the morning of Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was born September 8, 1947 to Fred Harold Judd and Frances Marion Gerrard of Clearfield, Utah.
He grew up in Clearfield the middle of five children. He attended the Farmington school for special needs children until he was 17 when he was graduated. He then moved to Garden Home Training Center in Clearfield. From there he moved to a group home in Ogden and in 1988 moved to independent apartment living with Turn Services in Salt Lake City. Also in 1988 Freddy was honored with the Bill Sacter Award by the Association for Retarded Citizens for moving from institutional living to independent living. He also received a plaque of Special Thanks from Kentucky Fried Chicken for his years of service with them.
Growing up Freddy was active at the Clearfield Community Church where he was baptized into the body of Christ. While he lived in downtown Salt Lake City, he attended Salt Lake First Baptist Church and also attended Morgan Valley Christian Church in Peterson, UT, whenever he was staying with his sister.
Freddy is survived by his brothers and sisters: Frances and Frank Holm of Layton, UT, Margaret and Jim Lullo of Houston, TX, Charles and Sharon Judd of Cheyenne, WY, and Phyllis and Mike Erickson of Waucanda, WA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Freddy was truly a blessing to all who knew him. So many people helped him through life and in return his sweet spirit lifted everyone he met. Our family would like to give special thanks for the tender care given Freddy by the nurses and staff of Rocky Mountain Care – Clearfield, and the Community Nursing Hospice. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for him at the HOME Project, and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Our loving thanks to Diana Platis, his Utah State Advocate, and all those who served as Freddy’s staff through Turn Services. Especially to Heather Isbell and her staff at Stone Bridge Apartments who cared for him as they would their own brother. And then to Maureen Gallagher and to his friends at the Heritage Center Day Program who were truly his family.
God blessed us all by giving us Freddy and now he has gone home.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield Community Church, 200 So. 500 E., Clearfield, UT.
